We use electricity from waking up in the morning to sleeping at night. You can't live a single moment without electricity. Electricity has become an integral part of our life. Electricity holds a great amount of power and sometimes we take for granted. If you use electric equipment responsibly, it will be beneficial for you and your family. Every year an average of 7000 people are killed because of electrocution in India. Every day 30 people died due to electrocution in India.
Let's see how we can prevent this accident on regular basis. One should be able to take care of electrical appliances in the house.
For your safety kindly do not follow the below-listed things:-
1. Handling wires without precaution
2. Installing wiring by your own
3. Changing MCB without having prior knowledge
4. Changing a starter in a fluorescent light fitting
Turn off the main switch before performing any of the above actions. Check whether electrical current is flowing through a phase. Electricity becomes more vulnerable when water comes into the picture. Special care should be taken with electrical appliances in the kitchen and bathroom at home. 50% of home fires are caused by malfunctions, especially in kitchen appliances.
KITCHEN:-
1. Never leave your home while kitchen appliances are running
2. Don't use appliances which are not in good condition. Replace them as early as possible.
3. Regularly clean your oven and grill, to prevent fire from the build up of grease.
4. Defrost your fridge on regular basis.
5. Avoid overloading.
BATHROOM:-
The number of deaths due to shock in the bathroom is the highest. You can't ignore this. When water comes in contact with electricity, the situation turns to the worst from the slightest shock to electrocution. Your bathroom is the most dangerous place in your home when it comes to electrical risks. It is even more dangerous than the kitchen. Some tips are given below in terms of avoiding electrocution in the bathroom:-
1. Change the frequent flickering bulbs.
2. Check the cords of electrical appliances used in the bathroom such as blow dryer and curling machine.
3. After using the electric equipment turn them off and unplugged them. If you just switch them off and without unplugging there will be a risk of electrocution.
4. Ensure there are adequate ventilation and space around appliances that generate heat.
Always remember one thing take help from an efficient electrician. Never try to fix any problem on your own or at least remember to switch off the main power supply. Check all wiring connections properly. A loose connection might lead to overheating and risk of personal injury and house fires.
